This course will enable ABE/ISD196 staff, students and parents to understand the many facets of the ABE Diploma Completion Program. Resources will include the Student Handbook, Counselor/Parent Handbook, and Clerical/Secretarial Handbook. The first two handbooks will include information regarding grading, attendance, student calendar, class schedules, course offerings, and graduation standards. From registration and orientation to enrollment requirements, options for learners will be explained. These options include 1) the alternative structured diploma, 2) the independent-study adult diploma, and 3) GED preparation. Another option for students under age 21 who are currently enrolled in another ISD196 high school is the independent-study dual enrollment classes. The secretarial handbook will give more in-depth instruction and training in the various aspects of the diploma secretary position at ABE, including MARSS data entry, transcripts, credit completion letters, the annual graduation ceremony, ordering/purchasing supplies, purchasing card reconciliation, budget monitor, etc.
