| 2 | November Highlights: The excitement of learning continues in second grade. We are finishing up a lot of our first units and creating projects which show each student's learning. We created insects and habitats in science and had a chance to be creative. We went into the computer lab for our social studies projects and made a graphic organizer to show the important parts of a community. In writing, we published our first book and had an author's celebration to share our hard work. (See some of the pictures below.) In reading we have completed our unit on making connections and are in the process of making a class book to teach others how to use connections to be better readers. We also completed our first math assessment. It covered the essential learnings for the first part of our study of numbers. You can see the target goals in the essential learnings and check with your child to be sure they are on track. We also had a fun math night to help parents and students learn all the fun games you can play to help with number sense. It has been a month of great growth for many students and we are looking forward to even more!
