| 4 | Fourth Grade Literacy
Areas of Focus for the First Trimester:
Writer's Workshop: We are focusing on establishing a writing community and routines for our Writer's Workshop during the First Trimester. Through a study of personal narratives students will create a foundation for their writing for the Second and Third Trimesters.
Word Study: Students are reviewing their cursive handwriting, and will be mastering the "Must Know" words for fourth grade. Must Know pretests are given on Fridays, and the test is the following Thursday. Students will tape the words to study into their planners each week.
Reader's Workshop: Students are engaged in independent reading and are meeting with me for reading assessments. Students will be working in groups and will be reading books tied into our theme of study "Minnesota." Students will be working on reading skills and reading strategies to improve their reading.
