Welcome to Joey Fritz's Title 1 Page

I am a  Reading Interventionist at Cedar Park Stem. I am working with many students this year across several grade levels. I am working to strengthen students in their Reading. I am trained as a Leveled Literacy Interventionist. This is my 13th year at Cedar Park, and 17th year in the district.  My previous experience is in early childhood education and  as a 1st grade teacher. I am also a certified Math Recovery Specialist.

My position this year is to provide extra reading  support to qualifying students at Cedar Park Stem using the research based LLI system. Students are meeting with me daily in small groups based on their reading levels. They are expected to read each night using the books I send home with them. Along with support from the student's family at home, this has been a successful intervention.

      Reading is Fun

Reading to your child or with your child is the single most important thing you can do to help your child be a better reader. Research shows that children who read at least 90 minutes per day can greatly increase their reading proficiency. Of course time to read is provided in their classroom each day. Visit the public library with your child and model good reading habits by reading yourself. Children learn what they see.

          Reading At Home

All of my students will be bringing books home to read with parents. This will strengthen and reinforce what they are working on in their classrooms and literacy groups. Thank you for supporting your child's learning at home. Watch for these books in their backpacks! The books need to be returned each day so a new book can be sent home. There are also activities suggested on the parent letter that support reading.

The Leveled Literacy Program is a structured, researched-based program focused on reading and writing. The reading-at-home is a necessary part of the success of your child
          .

          • Topic 4

As we begin a new school year, I'm looking forward to meeting all of my students to begin an exciting year of learning. My hope is to form a personal relationship with each child and that they will know how much I care about them and their journey as a learner . I want to help them to believe they can succeed and make school a fun learning experience. I will work together with parents and classroom teachers to help them be successful.
