Welcome to Mr. Thull's Special Education Class

Welcome JPEG

Hello my name is Rob Thull I am the EBD Resource Teacher here at Scott Highlands Middle School. My previous teaching experience was at the special education school of Dakota Ridge. In my transition into Scott Highlands I am bringing with me a highly structured environment that supports academic and social growth. Students will know all the expectations and they will be held accountable for them. We will process with students on a daily basis to make sure that academic and behavioral needs are being met. The environment within the room will be one in which we will promote social development. Social skills are a very important part of special education and through a variety of fun approaches we hope to develop the skills students will need to be successful in class and in the community. Behaviors will be tracked with weekly point sheets. From their students will fall into one of 3 levels. Level 3 meaning students are on top of their behaviors and academics, Level 2 meaning students are experiencing some setbacks in their classes, and Level 1 meaning that students struggle to follow directions and complete their assignments. These weekly check-ins with teachers will be shared with students and used as a processing tool. Along with social development students will have their academic needs met in our Resource Classroom. Modifications, adaptations, and support will be provided to all students within the program. We will track students academic work to make sure that students are punctual and that they put fourth their best effort in every task they are given within their classes. The daily planner will play a huge role in their success. Planners will be incorporated into the daily activities. It is vital for students to understand assignments and reflect upon their classroom lectures. Communication is by far the most important aspect of the program. Parents are encourage to call or e-mail with questions and concerns. The relationship that I would like to create is one in which we as a team can ensure that information is flowing freely from school and home.
