Each week a brief newsletter will be sent home in your child's Friday Folder giving you information about our week and Specialist's Schedule. I will have reminders about upcoming events, field trips, and school assemblies.

| 4 | Areas of Focus for the First Trimester:
- Language Arts- Establishing our reading behaviors, choosing "Just Right" books, making connections to stories, participation in word study lessons and handwriting
- Writing- Launching Writer's Workshop and Small Moments and using our word walls
- Math- Making and extending and labeling patterns, practicing counting, breaking numbers apart, and beginning addition strategies
- Science- Weather
- Social Studies-" Who We Are" This unit has students making comparisons within our classroom and looking at differences and similarities of people from many different cultures and areas of the world. Later in the trimester, we begin a unit on How We Organize Ourselves
- Health- Hand washing, bus safety and fire safety, and making healthy choices
