    Welcome JPEG

Fourth Grade is going to be a great year!

In Fourth Grade, we get to do many new and exciting things. You will use your creativity and have a chance to invent something unique and one of a kind, just like you. We are going to learn about Minnesota and the Mississippi River. You’ll get a “shock” out of learning about electricity and be “attracted” to learning about magnets. I am just so excited to be learning and growing with you this year.

We will be using the math curriculum called
          Bridges in Mathematics

Bridges in Mathematics is a comprehensive K-5 mathematics curriculum designed to meet the standards developed by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and many states. The curriculum focuses on conceptual understanding and the development of efficient strategies for problem solving. Rather than teach one way to do things, Bridges encourages students to develop a variety of problem solving strategies by tapping into their own intelligence strengths-linguistic, mathematical, spatial, kinesthetic and interpersonal. Instruction in a Bridges classroom features a blend of whole-group, small-group, and independent activities so that children have opportunities to listen to and learn from everyone in the class.

If you would like to learn more about Bridges in Mathematics, please visit their website for parents---
