Welcome JPEG Special Education

Language Arts and Math

Thank you for visiting my page! I teach 7th grade special education Language Arts and Math in the small group setting, as well as co-teaching Math and English in the general education setting.

It is an expectation that students read every day for 20-30 minutes. Independent reading is a requirement for this class. Students must read a total of 2.5 hours each week, outside of school. This can be done daily, or all in one sitting. Do whatever works for your weekly schedule! Students may check books out of our classroom library or the school library. Also, students should have basic math flash cards (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division), which should be practiced daily.

I also provide homework and organization support during 7th grade housetime (3rd lunch). Students must have a pass to leave their homeroom, which they can acquire from me during lunch, when I monitor the lunchroom.

Tips for Success in 7th grade:
Use the planner!
Organize binders daily!
View grades on schoolview regularly!
Print teacher calendars so you know what's coming up!

Seventh Graders at SHMS will be reading A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens, during the end of November and through December. In order to frame the text and provide ample background information, house 71 will be taking students to the Guthrie to see this classic play on November 25th.

Permission slips are due by October 28th.

Check out the Guthrie's website for more information!
