Summer Spies by Nancy Bestul
Book description from back cover:
Molly Morgan wants to do something really important to help with the war effort during World War II. But since she is only eleven, she has decided to be President Roosevelt's unofficial lookout for enemy spies.
On the ferry to Martha's Vineyard, she sees a suspicious man. Determined to find out if he is a spy, she spends her summer vacation keeping an eye on him. After she meets Neal, a deaf mute boy, they work together to find out what the man is doing on the Island. Their spy chasing turns into a dangerous adventure, as they try to find out if the man is a Nazi spy, and if there is really a German submarine off the Island coast.
Ms. Bestul is a local author who will be attending this meeting of the book club. She will talk about the book and her writing process. Bring some questions to ask her!
