Hello and welcome to another exciting year of activities at Scott Highlands Middle School. This website has been developed to help increase the amount of communication between the school and you regarding various after school activities available to your student.
By accessing the activities calendar on the right side of the page you can see most upcoming competitions, auditions, performances, etc.
Activities such as the fall play, math club, and declam (speech) are open to students in grades 6-8 so encourage your child to join a SHMS activity. | |

NEW AND EXCITING OFFERINGS
Scholastic Scrimmage
"Scholastic Scrimmage" is a district wide knowledge bowl competition for 7th graders in which our six middle schools compete monthly after school at various locations.
Destination Imagination
"Destination Imagination" has again emerged after a three year hiatus. This exciting program is open to any 6th grader who may be interested. We currently have a team meeting Mondays after school in preparation for the regional competition in March.
Construction Challenge
Our "Construction Challenge" team consists of 6th and 7th graders who are beginning research after school on infrastructure issues (roads, bridges, water and sewage) and their relationship with our quality of life. At the regional rally in February, these students will then plan, design, build and test a piece of equipment. They will also be expected to develop and implement a hands-on, task-based solution to a simulated tech problem.
The Stock Market Game
"The Stock Market Game" program is also new to SHMS this year. Starting with a virtual cash account of $100,000, interested students work to create the best-performing portfolio using a live trading simulation. They work together in teams, practicing leadership, organization, negotiation, and cooperation as they compete for the top spot.
