Students are expected to read at home EACH night. We all have very busy schedules, but it’s important for students to make reading a priority. Students are encouraged to set aside 20 to 30 minutes for reading each night.
Students may have a few additional assignments to complete outside of class.
Should you happen to be absent when an assignment is given, you will have 2 days for every day you are absent to turn in the work. It is the student’s responsibility to check-in with me to see what they missed. Work turned in late or after the 2 days has passed will result in lost points. I will post work without names on the whiteboard.

Topic 2MAP Reading Prep
Below is a link for additional MAP Reading practice. Students can play games and complete activities that will help them increase their score in each area of the test. All 6th grade students have their Fall MAP scores broken down in the three areas of the test (informational text, vocabulary, and literature).
These activities are a great way to improve MAP Reading scores. We encourage students to work on these activities at home whenever possible.
Reading at Home
Students are expected to read outside of school each day.
20-30 minutes is recommended. This can be anything! A novel, magazine, newspaper, website, etc. If students are struggling, try reading aloud with them. They'll love it!
